Your huge week on Sky Sports!

Your huge week on Sky Sports!

From international football and cricket to rugby and golf, it’s all happening over the coming days

There’s more on Sky Sports this week than you can shake a stick at (or a bat, or a club), so settle into your sofa because you’re in for a real treat…

From Friday 12 October, Sky Sports

The England football team kick things off as they face Croatia for the first time since the World Cup semi-final defeat in July, which everyone’s forgotten about by now (right?). The weekend also holds the Super League Grand Final, international cricket and two massive golf tournaments…

As ever, Sky Sports is the place to be to catch all the sporting drama this week – and on Virgin TV you don’t have to miss any of the big matches and even bigger moments! Want a piece of the action? Then read on to discover the indispensable sporting events you need to know about.

Croatia v England

Friday 12 October, 7pm, Sky Sports Main Event/HD (CH 511/501)

England’s run in the newly created UEFA Nations League (more on that here) continues this week against Croatia. Yes, the very same Croatia that prevented England reaching the World Cup final last year by the rather underhanded method of, um, being better at football. Keen to kick on after their Nations League defeat to Spain and a subdued friendly win against Switzerland, Southgate’s men can take heart from the fact that the Spanish put six past the Croatians in their first group game.

Sri Lanka v England

Saturday 13 October, 4.45am, and Wednesday 17 October, 9.30am, Sky Sports Cricket/HD (CH 514/504)

Out of six one-day series in Sri Lanka, England have only ever won one, a testament to the country’s tricky conditions. So can Eoin Morgan’s men improve that record? There’s certainly enough youthful talent and exuberance in the squad, with new call-ups like Warwickshire’s Olly Stone and the Surrey brothers Tom and Sam Curran, alongside older hands like Joe Root and Liam Plunkett. But Sri Lanka under captain Dinesh Chandimal always carry a threat. Will one side take a decisive lead in the five-match series this week?

Super League Grand Final

Saturday 13 October, 5pm, Sky Sports Arena/HD (CH 518/508)

Old Trafford opens its doors to the finalists of this year’s BetFred Super League as Warrington Wolves take on Wigan Warriors in a titanic tussle of tactics and touchdowns. It’s been an eventful season all round in the journey to the Theatre of Dreams, so expect nothing less than an electric atmosphere when these two teams face off.

Spain v England

Monday 15 October, 7pm, Sky Sports Main Event/HD (CH 511/501)

Gareth Southgate and the gang are back in action again, this time travelling to Seville to take on Spain in the Nations League at the home of Real Betis. After a dispiriting defeat in the reverse fixture at Wembley – thanks to a controversially disallowed late Danny Welbeck equaliser – England will be looking for revenge. But they’ll need to be careful against Luis Enrique’s rapidly resurgent team.

Andalucia Valderrama Masters

Thursday 18 October, 11am, Sky Sports Golf/HD (CH 515/505)

In 2017 this European Tour event proved a real nail-biter, as local hero Sergio García battled Dutchman Joost Luiten all the way to the finish, winning by one stroke. And now he’s back to defend his title against a growing field of golfing’s elite. With new obstacles having been installed at the “Augusta of Europe”, the stage is definitely set for one hell of a show.

The CJ Cup

Thursday 18 October, 3am, Sky Sports Golf/HD (CH 515/505)

Korea’s first ever PGA event tees off for its second year with an impressively stellar line-up taking to the picturesque but challenging Nine Bridges course, on Jeju Island off the country’s south coast. American Justin Thomas is back to defend his maiden title win but will be up against fierce competition from the likes of Ernie Els and Ian Poulter.
