Using pioneering holographic technology, Virgin Media’s Two Hearts Pizzeria brought people closer at a time when it was needed most

By Virgin Media

With restrictions preventing people from meeting face to face, Virgin Media wanted to allow the winners of our ultimate reunion meal competition to catch up virtually over something universally enjoyable: pizza. Whether they opted for pineapple on their pizza, however, is another matter entirely.

Comprising two locations, 400 miles apart (in London and Edinburgh), the Two Hearts Pizzeria enabled diners to sit across from each other at the “same” table, via a special 3D screen. Offering an immersive, to-scale, 4K-quality experience, it enabled the guests to catch up and connect in a more personal, informal setting than the average video call.

Check out the video below to see how it all came together, from a behind-the-scenes look at how it was built (bravo to production company Audience), to interviews with the people who made the tech work (the clever Musion team).
