To get you in a very British mood for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we’ve rounded up a stellar collection of everything our great country stands for, from comedy to drama and everything in between

By Ross Campbell, Writer

On 6 February 1952, HRH Princess Elizabeth became HM Queen Elizabeth II, Head of the Commonwealth and Defender of the Faith. And now Her Majesty is the longest-reigning monarch in British history, having worn the crown for 70 years.

Celebrations will be held around the UK and beyond in June to mark this momentous anniversary – and Virgin TV is no different. Our Platinum Jubilee collection is available to watch from 30 May all the way through June. You don’t have to stand to attention and salute when watching these brilliant British shows and films, but it would be absolutely fine with us if you did…

Mark Strong (the Kingsman films) stars in this drama about the exploits of a talented surgeon who sets up an illegal clinic hidden underneath London’s Temple Tube station – little more than a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace…

Dundee thrived during the years of the British Empire, thanks largely to its textiles and conserves industries, before it became known for its great publishing house DC Thomson. But Traces proves the city is about more than the three Js (jute, jam and journalism) with a crack team of forensic scientists collaborating to uncover the secrets of a murder scene.

Great British comedy

Agatha Raisin

What does one of Britain’s best-loved comedians get up to when he’s not on the telly? In this mockumentary, which we’re assured is at least partly fictionalised, we’re at home with married couple Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont, in a show jam-packed with hilarious situations, many arising from Jon’s oh-so-British fear of both conflict and embarrassment .
