Meet The Richardsons returns for a second series and Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont aren’t divorced… yet

By Laura Rutkowski, Staff Writer

The funny power couple (read our interview with them) are back to offer a fictionalised look into their marriage and home life with daughter Elsie in West Yorkshire. Written by Lucy and Car Share’s Tim Reid, Meet The Richardsons series 2 charts Jon and Lucy’s desire to move out of Hebden Bridge.

They’ve also been dealing with life in lockdown, as we all have, with varying degrees of sanity. Things are starting to get back to normal as Jon’s Jake Thackray documentary, which he’s working on with Sally Phillips, has finally been greenlit and Lucy has a new job hosting a radio show with Rob Beckett.

Other guests going through the revolving door of their home are: Johnny Vegas, Craig Charles, Kevin McCloud, Alex Brooker, Russell Howard, Mark Radcliffe, Dane Baptiste and Jessica Knappett.

Before settling in with Jon and Lucy’s antics, arguments, aspirations and aggravations, here are the other talented twosomes that know how to get the laughs...

Steve and Nancy Carell

Steve and Nancy Carell

You might not know that one of Michael Scott’s love interests in The Office US, realtor Carol Stills, is his wife in real life! Luckily, she didn’t turn down his proposal like Carol did in the series and the pair got married in 1995.

Nancy met Steve when she was a student in his improv class at Chicago’s Second City. They have also worked together on Saturday Night Live, The Daily Show and co-created the comedy series Angie Tribeca. Steve told Entertainment Tonight, “She makes me laugh more than anybody.” Aww!

There are quite a few to mention here! The brains behind the show are all married to their co-stars. Rob McElhenney (who plays Mac) met Kaitlin Olson (Dee) when he cast her on the series and they started secretly dating about a year later. In series 6, when Dee is pregnant and the gang are all trying to figure out who the father is, she was actually pregnant with Rob’s child!

Charlie Day (Charlie) is loved up in real life with Mary Elizabeth Ellis (The Waitress), whom he doggedly pursues in the show to no avail. Glenn Howerton (Dennis) and Jill Latiano (Caylee) tied the knot in 2009, the same year that Jill appeared as a guest in the series 5 episode “The D.E.N.N.I.S. System.” We seriously doubt he used the below to win her affections:

Demonstrate value

Engage physically

Nurture dependence

Neglect emotionally

Inspire hope

Separate entirely

When Jill’s father died in 2016, an episode in series 12, “The Gang Tends Bar,” was dedicated in his memory.

Elis James and Isy Suttie

Isy Suttie

Isy, who is best known for playing Dobby in Peep Show, was the one who asked her fiancé, comedian Elis, to marry her – she proposed at a launch party for her book, The Actual One, in 2016. The couple met at a comedy gig in Barnstaple in 2009 and started dating in 2010. Isy appeared in a Welsh learners’ programme in a regular sketch called “Y Wers Gymraeg” (“The Welsh Lesson”), which starred Elis, whose first language is Welsh. “We speak a sort of half-and-half language at home now – I don’t think Isy has said the English words for “milk”, “bread” or “tired” for ages,” Elis told The Independent.

Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally

Megan met Nick when they were reading for the play The Berlin Circle. While they were dating, Nick appeared in a guest role on Will & Grace, where he kissed Megan as her character Karen. In 2003, they invited a close group of friends over for a party, which was in fact their wedding! In Parks And Recreation, Megan also plays Tammy, the ex-wife of Nick’s character Ron Swanson, in several episodes. They have starred in several films together and have even written a book, The Greatest Love Story Ever Told: An Oral History, about their relationship.

Jordan Peele and Chelsea Peretti

Jordan, who worked with Keegan-Michael Key on sketch series Key & Peele before turning horror director for Get Out and Us, is married to Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Chelsea. They first started talking on Twitter and began dating in 2013. “He was very complimentary of the web series I once did,” Chelsea told Entertainment Weekly.

That’s why it was only fitting that they announced their engagement on the platform in 2015. They then eloped in 2016, something Jordan announced casually during a sketch with Keegan-Michael on Late Night With Seth Meyers. Their only witness was their dog! When Chelsea was pregnant with their first child, Jordan told People, “People, I think correctly, are already observing that this child will be comedy gold.” We reckon it won’t be long before little Beaumont takes over our screens!

Chris and Rosie Ramsey

Comedian Chris has incorporated his wife Rosie and their son Robin in his stand-up routines for years, but he was inspired to create a podcast with her after she started “heckling” him on Facebook Live, he said on Good Morning Britain. #thatawkwardmomentwhenyourwifeisfunnierthanyou. People lapped it up and they now have a hugely popular weekly podcast called Sh**ged Married Annoyed, as well as a book of the same name. Hashing out your marital gripes to each other and the nation? Sounds like a good stress reliever to us.
