Never Mind The Buzzcocks is back!

As the hit music quiz makes its comeback on Sky Max, discover what to expect from the new series and test your knowledge of its previous incarnation

By Virgin TV Edit

There’s no denying it: we’re living in the age of the reboot. From makeover shows like Changing Rooms to dramas such as Gossip Girl, bringing popular classics back from the dead is very much the done thing right now. And now it’s the turn of a quiz show as beloved as it was irreverent.

Yes, Never Mind The Buzzcocks is returning to the box after spending six years off our screens – and it’s got itself a brand new home on Sky Max. But that’s not the only thing that’s new. Want to know more? Then read on to get properly clued up, and head to the bottom of the page to take our Buzzcocks quiz…

Never Mind The Buzzcocks is back, you say?

It sure is! The music-based quiz show that never took things too seriously ran for a jaw-dropping 29 series on BBC Two, starting all the way back in 1996 before being axed in 2015. And now it’s returning on Sky Max.

Sky Max? What’s that then?

In case you didn’t know, Sky Max is a brand new channel packed full of eye-poppingly great telly. From A League Of Their Own and gripping drama COBRA to the fantastical A Discovery Of Witches and Never Mind The Buzzcock’s unmissable comeback, it’s got you well and truly covered for epic entertainment.

Lovely! So what new things can we expect from this rocking reboot?

Plenty. Including a new host and a new team captain…

Tell me more…

Well, TV tall man Greg Davies will be your new host – and we think the show’s producers couldn’t have picked a better person to take the hot seat. Davies’ sharp and sometimes surreal wit is among the many things which make Taskmaster such essential comedy viewing, so he should be right at home here.

And what about the team captains?

Returning as a team captain will be comedian Noel Fielding, following a stint as a skipper during the show’s previous life on the BBC. Up against him each week will be This Country’s Daisy May Cooper, which is an absolutely inspired addition by Sky. Cooper’s thigh-slappingly brilliant comedic talent is worth tuning in for alone.

Anything else to know?

Yep, stand-up comedian Jamali Maddix (who has previously appeared on Taskmaster) will be a regular guest on the show, while the first episode of the new series will also feature Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall, singer Anne-Marie and comedian Nish Kumar. It should be a cracker.
