The Office is available on Netflix in the States and Amazon Prime Video in the UK, but as of today, all nine seasons of the hit sitcom are available to binge as a Sky Comedy Box Set! During lockdown, The Office has been everyone’s type on paper (not least because the characters work at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, Inc). A Nielsen streaming report revealed that in the US, during the week of 2 to 8 March, The Office was Netflix’s most streamed acquired TV show.
But the series was dominating screens long before lockdown. It was the most watched show on Netflix in 2018, with 52 million minutes streamed – 20 million more than Friends. We guess that puts the Friends vs The Office argument to bed then.
In case you’re not familiar with the show, which was developed by the endlessly talented Greg Daniels, the mockumentary is the American version of Ricky Gervais’ classic British sitcom The Office. Steve Carell plays Michael Scott, the regional manager of a paper company based in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
His employees, which include salesmen Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) and Stanley Hudson (Leslie David Baker), receptionist Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer) and accountants Oscar Martinez (Oscar Nunez), Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner) and Angela Martin (Angela Kinsey), get up to all sorts of mischief under Michael’s just about capable, yet… distracted leadership style.
