Who’s holding court in The Queen And I?

Who’s holding court in The Queen And I?

Find out what happens when Her Majesty and the rest of the royals move to a housing estate in this Sky One comedy

Welcome to Hell, as the residents of Hellebore Close have nicknamed their street, which is about to become home to some unlikely new neighbours

The Queen and I, Christmas Eve, 6pm, Sky One/HD (CH 110/109). Also available for 30 days in Catch Up > Channels > Sky One

The Queen And I, based on Sue Townsend’s 1992 novel, dares to do the unthinkable and abolishes the monarchy. When politician Jack Barker is made prime minister, his priority is to turn the United Kingdom into a republic, which leaves the Royal Family jobless and cast out to live on a council estate.

The result is comedy gold, as the former royals try to adjust to their new living arrangements – and the current residents have plenty to say about it too.

Will they all live together as one big happy family? While the family’s flashy entrance into the estate – complete with fascinators, frills, corgis and expensive cutlery – comes as shock to the residents, things will surely settle down eventually, right?

Having to choose between heating and food is a humbling new experience for a family that’s used to a life of luxury. But despite their quirks and eccentries, they might just have more in common with the people than they thought.
