What is Robin Williams’ best role?

We want you to choose your favourite performance from the late, great screen star

Remember Williams in the superb Dead Poets Society on Sky Cinema – and vote for his finest on-screen turn

Dead Poets Society, Wednesday 21 March, 8pm, Sky Cinema Drama & Romance/HD (CH 440/410) + also available in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert PG. Also available in HD

It’s easy to remember Robin Williams as a master of goofing around, a comedy jumping bean with more energy than all of his contemporaries combined.

But let’s not forget that the actor – who passed away at the age of 63 in 2014 – also wowed cinemagoers with a string of serious performances that moved effortlessly between the tender and the powerful, the intimate and the profound.

Sky Cinema is celebrating World Poetry Day on Wednesday 21 March by showing one of Williams’ most memorable roles, Dead Poets Society, at 8pm on Sky Cinema & Romance/HD (CH 440/410) and in Sky Cinema on demand. In this 1989 classic (which won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and a BAFTA for Best Film) he plays John Keating, an unconventional English teacher who arrives at a stuffy prep school and gives his students a zest for life by igniting in them a love of poetry.

Dead Poets Society is an undoubted masterpiece, with early roles for a host of now very familar faces (Ethan Hawke, Robert Sean Leonard and Josh Charles all stand up please), but do you think it’s Williams’ best performance in a career that was packed full of outstanding moments? We’ve rounded up a selection of his finest work – all you have to do is vote for your favourite…
