Battle of the Premier League new boys

As Chelsea and Arsenal clash live on BT Sport, we size up managers Maurizio Sarri and Unai Emery

Who will claim a vital win when the Blues and the Gunners square off?

Chelsea v Arsenal, Saturday 18 August, 5pm, BT Sport 1/HD (CH 531/527)

Feisty. Explosive. Unmissable. Chelsea versus Arsenal is a fixture that needs little introduction.

These Premier League powerhouses have a history of producing exhilarating entertainment when they meet on the pitch, and their upcoming showdown at Stamford Bridge – a match you can watch live and exclusive on BT Sport – promises to be more entertaining than ever.

Why? Because both teams have new managers who want to re-mould two of the game’s biggest clubs.

Former banker Maurizio Sarri is the man tasked with getting Chelsea back to the summit of English football. Sarri guided Napoli to two second-place finishes in three seasons in Italy, but he won’t have experienced anything like the relentless rough and tumble of a Premier League campaign before.

The same can be said of Sarri’s opposite number, Unai Emery. The Spaniard boasts a sparkling CV following successful reigns at Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain, but does he have the qualities needed to usher in a glorious new era at the Emirates following Arsène Wenger’s exit?

As Sarri’s Chelsea and Emery’s Arsenal prepare to go head to head live and exclusive on BT Sport, we thought it fitting to size up the two Premier League newbies to see how they compare…
