Get the lowdown on this huge showdown – and find out which players have made the cut for our Combined XI
By Virgin TV Edit
Big football match alert! Big football match alert! Think blockbuster Premier League clashes and you’d be hard pressed to find one bigger than Liverpool versus Manchester City.
Both clubs have dominated English football for the last few years and the latest chapter in their thrilling tussle for top billing sees them face off in the red-hot cauldron of Anfield, exclusively live on Sky Sports Premier League and the Sky Sports app.
It’s a fixture that has got the lot: superstar managers, world-class players, passionate supporters – and usually goals (20 have been scored in their last five meetings). But it’s City who have had the upper hand in recent times.
Pep Guardiola’s boys have lost just one and won four of their last seven encounters with Liverpool, including last season’s 4-1 demolition of Jürgen Klopp’s side on Merseyside. Can they leave Anfield with another three points, or will the hosts get some revenge against the champions?
Despite the season being only a couple of months old, both clubs know that a victory would give their title credentials a big boost and keep them in the hunt for the crown alongside fellow contenders Chelsea and Manchester United. Lose and you’ll have Graeme Souness questioning whether you can handle the pressure in the big games. And nobody wants that.
It’s all teed up to be an unmissable match featuring two of Europe’s finest sides, but which players make our Combined XI? Take a look below to see who has made the grade…
