It’s full speed ahead in Italy!

All eyes turn to Mugello for one of the biggest races in the MotoGP™ calendar

Who will be the maestro when the action starts, live on BT Sport?

Gran Premio d’Italia Oakley, Sunday 3 June, 12.30pm, BT Sport 2/HD (CH 532/528)

If your Sundays are crying out for some hair-raising drama, we’ve got just the thing. The stars of MotoGP are revving up for the Italian Grand Prix from Mugello, and this is a race where eye-wateringly fast action is guaranteed.

In fact, the fastest speed ever recorded in a MotoGP race was set here back in 2016, when Italy’s own Andrea Iannone reached a staggering 220.5mph. Although many have tried to better Iannone since then, his blink-and-you’ll-miss-it achievement still stands.

But records are made to be broken. Racers like Spain’s Marc Márquez, French sensation Johann Zarco, Britain’s Cal Crutchlow and legendary Italian Valentino Rossi will be going all out to smash Iannone’s top speed over the course of this frantic MotoGP weekend – but most importantly of all, whether someone sets a new mark or not, there’s a fascinating battle in store.

After starting the season brilliantly, defending champion Marc Márquez will go into the race as favourite, but history suggests he is unlikely to have things his own way. The 25-year-old has experienced more retirements than victories in his MotoGP races at Mugello in the past six years, and finished sixth in 2017.

So if Márquez doesn’t win it, who will? Home favourite Andrea Dovizioso powered to victory here 12 months ago, while Rossi can never be counted out on a track where he has won nine times. But keep an eye on Spain’s Jorge Lorenzo, who has won five of the last seven Italian Grands Prix. Gentlemen, start your engines!
