The drama continues on Sky Sports

We tackle the major talking points ahead of a massive weekend of action on Sky Sports Premier League

Get ready for five huge matches that will have a big impact on the top and bottom of the table...

From Saturday 14 April, 12pm, Sky Sports Premier League/HD (CH 512/502)

The Premier League season has reached crunch time. If you know exactly what that means, you’ll be acutely aware of how exhilarating the next few weeks are going to be. If you don’t, allow us to fill you in.

Crunch time is a period when the riches of Europe and the spectre of relegation loom large. A phase when nails are bitten, tears are shed and strangers are embraced. A time when every pass, tackle, save and decision matters.

Emotions will be running particularly high when Sky Sports shows five crucial Premier League clashes live on the box over one bumper weekend of action. Ahead of the unmissable drama, we’re answering the big questions…

Are Spurs the second-best team in England?

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City, Saturday 14 April, 7pm, Sky Sports Premier League/HD (CH 512/502)

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side are by far the classiest side in this year’s Premier League, and possibly the greatest in Premier League history. But who are England’s second-best team? Local rivals United? Free-scoring Liverpool? Or last season’s runners-up Spurs? We’re not sure who currently deserves this tag, but we are certain that a victory over City would considerably strengthen Tottenham’s case.

Which Arsenal are going to turn up?

Newcastle United v Arsenal, Sunday 15 April, 12.30pm, Sky Sports Premier League/HD (CH 512/502)

Arsenal’s season has been a tale of two teams. At home the Gunners are a tasty proposition. On the road… not so much. So, given they are away at Newcastle, another defeat is on the cards, right? Not necessarily. For starters, the Toon Army’s home record isn’t great this season. And then there’s the fact that Arsenal haven’t lost on Tyneside since 2005…

Can José serve up some goals?

Manchester United v West Bromwich Albion, Sunday 15 April, 3.30pm, Sky Sports Premier League/HD (CH 512/502)

Manchester United fans like their team to play swashbuckling football. But here’s the problem: manager José Mourinho isn’t a big fan. An emphatic victory over the seemingly doomed West Brom would silences some of his critics at Old Trafford, but it may not be as easy as the Premier League table suggests. Despite their pitiful position, the Baggies have earned points at Everton, Leicester, Liverpool and Tottenham this season.

Can Sparky boost Southampton?

Southampton v Chelsea, Saturday 14 April, 12pm, Sky Sports Premier League/HD (CH 512/502)

When it’s coming up to crunch time, who you gonna call? Mark Hughes! Southampton recently rang the former Stoke City boss (and ex-Saints striker) and asked him to take over at St Mary's Stadium. Hughes said yes, and now the Welshman and his players are eyeing up some Premier League points against Chelsea. Not only are the Blues going through a rocky patch, with a run of league defeats and Champions League elimination, but they may also have one eye on the pair’s upcoming FA Cup semi-final.

Which Scot will come out on top?

West Ham United v Stoke City, Monday 16 April, 8pm, Sky Sports Premier League/HD (CH 512/502)

Not so long ago – 2011, in fact – there were seven Scottish managers in the Premier League (if you included Scotland-born ex-Ireland striker Owen Coyle). Now, West Ham United’s David Moyes and Stoke City’s Paul Lambert are the only two and the pair are going head to head at the Olympic Stadium, when there is far more than national pride at stake. A victory for either side will dent their opponents' survival hopes. After winning the reverse fixture 3-0 in December, West Ham will be confident of grabbing three points – but they haven’t beaten Stoke at home since 2011…
