We’ve got 26 reasons why you should tune in to the world’s hardest-hitting sport

Before you watch this weekend’s UFC 219, get to grips with what makes this sport so unmissable using our comprehensive guide

UFC 219, Sunday 31 December, 3am, BT Sport 1/HD (CH 531/527)

Batten down the hatches, plonk yourself down on the sofa and prepare for an Earth-shaking sporting spectacle this weekend when UFC 219 hits the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Headlining a gripping (in more ways than one) night of hard-hitting action will be the hugely anticipated Women’s Featherweight Championship bout between defending champion Cris Cyborg and challenger Holly Holm. With a name like Cyborg you would expect the title holder to crush her opponent with all the ruthlessness of the Terminator, but Holm is a huge star in her own right. In fact, you may remember the American causing a seismic stir by beating superstar Ronda Rousey inside a minute in front of a record-breaking crown in Melbourne in 2015. All of which means that this showdown looks likely to be an absolute cracker.
