Fit To Fat To Fit
Monday 8 January, from 9pm, Lifetime/HD (CH 208/209). Also available for 30 days in Catch Up > Channels > Lifetime
No, this isn’t a Christian Bale biopic. This groundbreaking series follows 10 personal trainers as they undertake one of the most extreme weight loss experiments ever attempted on television. Over a four-month period, these men and women wave goodbye to their enviable abs, brilliant biceps and trim tummies in order to pack on the pounds by eating unhealthily and totally abstaining from exercise. For these body-proud PTs. intentionally increasing their weight by up to 40% is as great a challenge as any cross-country race, endurance event or triathlon.
After going from fit to fat, they must then attempt to become fit again, shedding the pounds alongside their out-of-shape clients in order to better understand the struggles they face on their journeys to slimdom. At the end of the season, both the trainers and their clients are examined to see whether they’ve successfully achieved their weight-loss goals - and the result is not always predictable.

Hoarders

Monday 8 January, from 10pm, Lifetime/HD (CH 208/209). Also available for 30 days in Catch Up > Channels > Lifetime
This eye-opening programme documents the lives of people struggling to deal with compulsive hoarding disorder. Each of the families featured in Hoarders are up against it – quite literally – with mountains of stuff accumulated in their homes. From old newspapers and unworn clothes, to Christmas ornaments lying around months after December 25, the homes explored in Hoarders would give the How Clean Is Your House? team a migraine.
The show follows these compulsive collectors, exploring the motivations behind their hoarding and providing them with therapists and cleaning teams to help them and their families break the cycle of clutter. Experts assist the hoarders as they cleanse and reorganise their homes and, in turn, their minds. Weeks later they follow up to see how they’re getting on. This arresting and heartwarming show explores a very real – and often neglected – disorder that can have a huge impact on a person’s mental health.
