The best TV moments of 2020 revealed!

This year has been a lot in so, so, so many ways. But TV was there for us

By Simon Ward, Content Editor

When the history of 2020 is written down, what will be remembered? Will it be the clapping for the people who kept us safe? What will it say about an old veteran walking around his garden who inspired us in our darkest times? How it will it describe the moment he Queen told the country “we will meet again”?

Television has played a vital role in telling the story of a year that has been unlike no other, in both the good times and the hard ones. It has informed us, and lightened our moods. It has taught our children and kept us connected. TV became something different this year but also, comfortingly, remained the same.

In 2021, the Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards will bring the country together to celebrate the best television of the past year. And once again, we’ll ask the Great British public to vote on the Virgin Media Must-See Moment, the audience award for the massive moments that got everyone talking.

This list is a celebration of the alternative TV moments of 2020. Whether it was the Prime Minister announcing a national lockdown or David Bowie’s face being moulded into cake form, it’s all here. Will any of your favourite moments make the shortlist? Let’s begin in January…
