The stars of this brand new spy thriller reveal why you won’t want to miss it

Throw yourself into an enthralling, twisting espionage drama you’ll be recommending to your friends before you’ve even finished the first episode

Killing Eve, Saturday 15 September, 9.15pm, BBC One/HD (CH 101/108). The complete series will be available after episode 1 is broadcast – find it in Catch Up > Channels > BBC iPlayer

Everything that comes from the mind of Phoebe Waller-Bridge is worth watching. After all, this is the woman who wrote and starred in the brilliant, mind-scrambling, multi-award-winning comedy Fleabag. And now she’s created a new spy thriller that might just be the best show you watch all year – Killing Eve.

This acclaimed series, which aired in the US earlier this year, stars Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy) as MI5 security officer Eve Polastri and Jodie Comer (Doctor Foster) as Villanelle, an expert assassin with a love of drama and a wardrobe full of secrets.

These contrasting characters embark on a compelling cat-and-mouse chase, as the deskbound Eve attempts to hunt down Villanelle. But as the two become increasingly obsessed with each other, where will the pursuit end?

Oh is multi-layered, flawed and immensely likeable as Eve. It’s impossible not to pull for her, even when she’s making some extremely questionable choices. You will shout at her on more than one occasion, but that’s only because she makes you care so much. Comer, meanwhile, is a captivating assassin with a perfectly constructed blend of innocence and evil that makes it impossible to look away whenever she’s on screen.

The pair are joined by a supporting cast brimming with star power. David Haig (Four Weddings And A Funeral) is an absolute joy as Eve’s colleague Bill, while Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter) puts in a typically commanding performance as Carolyn Martens, one of MI6’s top dogs. Kim Bodnia (The Bridge), Darren Boyd (Spy) and Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Barry) also have key supporting roles.
