The Hills are alive… again

Find out what your favourite cast members are up to now ahead of The Hills: New Beginnings on MTV

The Hills’ theme song was right: “The rest is still unwritten…”

The Hills: New Beginnings, Tuesday 25 June, 8pm, MTV/HD (CH 134/183). Also available for 7 days in Catch Up > Channels > MTV

Hold onto your stylish hats, because The Hills, which kept us glued to our television screens from 2006 to 2010, is getting a reboot. It was one of the OG reality TV shows that helped define the genre and paved the way for shows (and stars) to come. In case you couldn’t tell, we could not be more excited for this reunion!

Most of the original cast members are back, minus Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari and Lo Bosworth. They’re joined by their significant others, plus actor Mischa Barton and Brandon Thomas Lee (Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s son).

As you’ll notice from the trailer, the theme song remains unchanged. As if we weren’t feeling nostalgic enough already, hearing Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” play out against clips from series gone by has well and truly sent us on a trip down memory lane.

If you need a refresher, the sixth season ended with Kristin Cavallari and Brody Jenner saying goodbye as they walked away from their relationship for good, the Hollywood sign overlooking it all in the distance. But then, instead of your traditional fade to black, the camera panned to reveal that the action had actually been filmed inside a studio! The Hills creator Adam DiVello told MTV News: “We had joked early on about different ways to do a kind of wink as to whether it was real or not.”

A lot has changed in the 13 years since The Hills first aired, except, miraculously, the cast themselves. They still look as fresh faced as they did when they first graced our screens – all perfect hair and Hollywood smiles.

Before you settle in to admire the beautiful scenery of The Hills: New Beginnings, read on to find out what the cast (past and present) are up to now. The rest, of course, is still unwritten…
