Can Hamilton make history at Monza?

Can Hamilton make history at Monza?

We line up the big numbers as the Brit tries to overtake a legend on Sky Sports F1®

Style. Panache. Fans screaming themselves hoarse in the name of Ferrari. It can only be the F1 Italian Grand Prix

Formula One 2019 Heineken Italian Grand Prix, from Friday 6 September, 9.45am, Sky Sports F1®/HD (CH 516/506)

This historic race is one championship leader Lewis Hamilton enjoys very much indeed. And that’s terrible news for the challengers trying to catch up with the Mercedes maestro in this season’s pursuit of the drivers’ title.

Hamilton has triumphed five times at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, a record he shares with the great Michael Schumacher. So can he make it a sensational six victories here, or could his quest for the crown be about to take a left turn?

But before we get into more of the drivers doing battle, check out our video below for the big numbers on the race.

In the chasing pack, Hamilton’s teammate Valtteri Bottas and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen don’t look like they’re ready to disappear from the champ’s rear-view mirror any time soon, while Sebastien Vettel (who has won here three times himself) will be roared on by an Italian crowd packed with Ferrari disciples.

One thing you should definitely expect from this weekend’s action is speed, speed and a bit more speed for good measure, because Monza demands drivers push their cars to the chassis-shaking limit. Only last year, Kimi Räikkönen set the fastest lap F1 has ever seen when he stormed to pole in qualifying here.

So, are you ready for a weekend of dizzying drama, F1-style? From first practice to the fizz-soaked podium celebrations, follow every session live and exclusive on Sky Sports F1®. Out and about? Then don’t miss a moment on the Sky Sports app. Bellissimo!
