It was a weekend full of shocks, surprises and skirmishes in the Premier League, but which moments stood out above the rest?

Read on for our round-up of the action…

1. Result of the weekend

Cardiff City 4-2 Fulham

Hell has transformed into an ice rink, pigs have taken to the skies, and yes, Cardiff City have finally won a game of Premier League football. The Bluebirds were involved in a six-goal thriller on Saturday, eventually disposing of Fulham to pick up three precious points, lifting them out of the relegation zone.

2. Goal of the weekend

Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City) v Burnley

Last time on the Riyad Mahrez Show, the wily winger blazed a crucial penalty against Liverpool over the bar. This weekend, he reminded us about how good he is at striking a football cleanly when he curled in a beauty during City’s 5-0 battering of Burnley. You just don’t stop screamers like that one.

3. Performance of the weekend

Fernandinho (Manchester City) v Burnley

One goal, one assist, one dominant display from the champions’ midfield cornerstone. Going quietly about his business against Burnley, Fernandinho proved (not for the first time) how important he is to the City winning machine. It’s about time we showed him some proper love.

4. Manager of the weekend

Neil Warnock (Cardiff City)

Is there a more belligerent manager in the Premier League than Warnock? His Cardiff side went eight games without a win this season, before ending their dismal run with a win against Fulham. Like him or loathe him, he just loves sticking it to the critics.

5. Almighty scuffle of the weekend

José Mourinho v Marco Ianni

With his team 2-1 up deep into stoppage time, it looked like José Mourinho’s latest return to Stamford Bridge was going to be a hugely satisfying one. Then Chelsea snatched a late equaliser, assistant coach Marco Ianni rubbed Mourinho’s nose in it, and suddenly the touchline resembled the street outside a nightclub at 2am. Mourinho insists that the issue has been dealt with, but we can’t wait for the return fixture at Old Trafford…
