The big numbers behind Man City v Chelsea

Check out the eye-watering stats behind one of the Premier League’s biggest match-ups, exclusively live on Sky Sports

Two of the Premier League’s biggest hitters head to the Etihad for a scintillating showdown on Sky Sports this weekend

Manchester City v Chelsea, Sunday 10 February, 3.30pm, Sky Sports Premier League/HD (CH 512/502)

Let’s be honest – this is such a mouth-watering match-up that even a postbox in Milton Keynes would be forgiven for spending the week waiting for kick-off with bated breath.

Packed with more superstars than the 1999 Action Man Annual and posing an intriguing clash of Sarri-ball and Tiki-taka, it’s a fixture that in recent years has thrown up its fair share of tense tactical battles and end-to-end attacking romps. And, luckily for every football lover in the land, this trend shows no signs of abating in this weekend’s match.

Before the teams line up for the first time this month (with a Carabao Cup Final featuring both sides arriving just 14 days later), check out some of the eye-watering stats and figures behind the fixture many now call “El Cashico”.

Despite often being at their imperious best this season, a brief stumble in December has threatened to derail City’s title defence. Meanwhile, Sarri has been left to question the attitude of his team following a string of dour draws and frustrating defeats.

As such, a win for either side will have fascinating consequences for the overall standings, with three points enabling City to further pile the pressure on Liverpool, or gifting Chelsea a lifeline in their own title ambitions.

And with N’Golo Kanté’s screamer into the top of the net and David Luiz’s salmon-like header gifting Chelsea the win despite a dominant performance from City, both coaches have good cause to feel a sense of hope going into this weekend’s game.
