The UFC’s biggest fight ever!

The UFC’s biggest fight ever!

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov are squaring up for the lightweight title at UFC 229 on BT Sport

It’s going to be all-out war when two of the sport’s toughest fighters go head to head in Las Vegas

UFC 229, Sunday October 7, 3am, BT Sport 1/HD (CH 531/527)

Brace yourself, because a UFC showdown of monumental proportions is ready to erupt this weekend live on BT Sport. Just how monumental are we talking? UFC president Dana White has claimed that it’s the biggest bout in the history of the organisation.

In one corner you have lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (try saying that with a mouth full of fist). Cookies don’t come much tougher than the rampaging Russian, who currently has the longest undefeated streak in UFC history with 26 wins from 26 bouts.

And in the other corner, you have one of the most controversial athletes in modern sport making his long-awaited comeback – Conor McGregor. The headline-grabbing Irishman hasn’t competed in UFC since November 2016, but don’t think he’s just been sat on his sofa watching Homes Under The Hammer for the past two years.

Since his last UFC fight, McGregor has become a dad, lost to Floyd Mayweather in a blockbuster boxing match, released a documentary about his life, been stripped of the featherweight and lightweight belts, and pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after damaging a bus at a UFC media event. The man likes to keep busy.

Both fighters are megastars in their own right, but this colossal clash will go a long way to determining who really is at the pinnacle of the sport.

And with a cracking undercard featuring the likes of lightweight contender Tony Ferguson, undefeated bantamweight Sean O’Malley, former lightweight champ Anthony Pettis and Felice “Lil Bulldog” Herrig, it’s all set up to be a truly unmissable night of UFC action at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.

You can follow every thunderous moment live on BT Sport in the early hours of Sunday – but if you’ll be tucked up in bed when the fight is on make sure you record the action on your Virgin TV box, because you really don’t want to miss this.
