Scandal reigns supreme both inside and outside the courtroom in brand new series For The People
Scandal reigns supreme both inside and outside the courtroom in brand new series For The People
For her next hit, showrunner Shonda Rhimes takes us to the US District Court for the Southern District of New York…
For The People, Mondays from 6 August, 10pm, Sky Living/HD (CH 112/111). Also available for 30 days in Catch Up > Channels > Sky Living
For The People follows six young lawyers who work on opposite sides of the law as their professional and personal lives intersect. And by that we mean there’s plenty of romantic drama and sexual tension getting in the way of their work. Each week a different case is presented and explored from the opposing sides – think The Good Wife with a sprinkling of Suits.
Executive produced by Rhimes (she of How To Get Away With Murder, Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal fame) and created by Paul William Davies (who also worked on Scandal), it has all the hallmarks of a Shonda Rhimes production – slick, stylish and packed with strong characters from minority groups. Oprah Winfrey wrote of Rhimes in her 2013 Time 100 tribute: “Gay, straight, single, divorced, lost, searching – everybody gets a seat at Shonda’s table.”

Dominating the courtroom in For The People is a cast comprising up-and-coming stars and some familiar faces, including Britt Robertson (Girlboss), Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers) and Hope Davis (Wayward Pines).
