The A to Z of Wimbledon 2022!

The A to Z of Wimbledon 2022!

It’s one of the highlights of the sporting calendar, and ahead of the Wimbledon Championships, we’re bringing you everything you need to know – from A to Z

By Chris Miller, Writer

We love Wimbledon. You love Wimbledon. Even people who don’t like tennis love Wimbledon. It’s a grand old British summertime tradition dating back to the Victorian era, and it brings the country together to enjoy two weeks of elite-level sporting action from (ideally) a sun-drenched corner of south-west London.

It conjures up memories of great champions, rain delays, disputed umpiring calls, tantrums, new balls, celeb spectators, strawberries and, of course, noble British failures – and even the odd British success! It’s a high point in the sporting calendar every year, and it’s all live on the BBC.

Ahead of the Championships, we present your complete A to Z guide to Wimbledon – it’s (probably) everything you could need to know about this year’s tournament…

When are the 2022 Wimbledon Championships on TV?

Live coverage begins at 11am on Monday 27 June on BBC Two HD (CH 102) and continues until Sunday 10 July on BBC One HD (CH 101) and BBC Two HD, as well as in Apps & Games > BBC iPlayer. Highlights of the day’s play are on every night at 8.30pm on BBC Two HD.
