The pop icons are taking over BBC Four with two brand new documentaries

Get ready for some thrilling tales from these wild boys

Duran Duran: There's Something You Should Know, Friday 29 June, from 9pm, BBC Four/HD (CH 107/163). Also available for 30 days in Catch Up > Channels > BBC iPlayer

If the sound of “Rio”, ”The Reflex” and “Girls On Film” defined your youth, or if you’ve just got fantastic taste in music, get closer to Duran Duran than ever before with a special night of programming dedicated to one of Britain’s greatest bands.

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the band’s formation (has it really been that long?), Boys On Film: A Night With Duran Duran includes two new and completely unmissable documentaries that chart the incredible career of these 80s legends.

It all kicks off with Duran Duran: There’s Something You Should Know, which sees band members Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor talking candidly about their remarkable – and turbulent – history. Featuring previously unseen archive footage, the band’s rise from Birmingham-based New Romantics to world-conquering pop pin-ups is explored in depth, and all with their trademark style and panache.

Once you’re done with that roller coaster ride, it’ll be time to settle down with the boys for Duran Duran: A Night In. Here, the band will shine a light on the influences that helped shaped their distinctive sound and look in the early days. Covering everything from B-movies to Bowie, it’s a fascinating collage of cultural curiosities that explains what made Duran Duran a unique force in the 80s pop landscape.

So dig out those leg warmers, dust off that white blazer, apply lots of blusher and get set for an evening with some era-defining musical heroes.
