All you need to know about Is It Cake, Too?

A fresh batch of bakers has arrived to take more whisks than ever before, producing hyper-realistic cakes to fool the pros

By Charlotte Briggs, Staff Writer

There’s only one question on our minds – is it cake, too? Yes indeedy, Netflix is bringing fans another lip-smacking season of one of its most surreal game shows. Talented bakers from across the United States will head to the cake lab once more to create mind-bogglingly realistic cakes styled after everyday objects.

In the first season we were treated to a host of delicious deceptions, with some notable highlights resembling a bowling ball, a rubber duck and a chessboard. The cake creators regularly fooled a roster of celebrity guest judges including The Real’s Loni Love, Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown and FUBAR’s Fortune Feimster.

Ultimately, it was green-haired gastronaut Andrew Fuller who was crowned season one champion. But now, prepare for even bigger stakes, better fakes and brilliant bakes, as some of this season’s creations shock you right down to your cakey core!

This time around, ten skilled cake artists join host Mikey Day (Saturday Night Live) and his giant, cake-cutting knife. Some of the new faces include college student Corterrius Allen, 90s-obsessed novelty cake baker Danya Smith, artist Miko Kaw Hok Uy and two-time Cake Wars winner Pete Tidwell.

The contestants will be whipping up a storm in the kitchen on their quest to take home a share of more than $100,000. But it’s not just the prize pot that’s changed this year. There are new rules in place too, including the risk of elimination every episode.

And if that wasn’t enough pressure, there are some high-profile names judging the convincing confectionary, such as actors Chloe Fineman and Joel Kim Booster, reality star Chrishell Stause and TikTok sensation Charli D’Amelio.

Don’t miss any of the deliciousness, as all eight episodes of Is It Cake, Too? land on Netflix on Friday 30 June. You can watch all the action via Apps & Games > Netflix.
