SIM wifi authentication FAQs

WiFi hotspots can automatically connect you to over 3.5 million Virgin Media WiFi secure hotspots around the UK, including WiFi at 250+ London Underground stations.

You will need a Virgin Mobile SIM and may also need to download some WiFi settings.

You’ll need a WiFi-enabled smartphone with a Virgin Mobile SIM.

You may also need to download some WiFi settings once and then your phone will automatically connect to Virgin Media WiFi hotspots in the future.

There are two ways to set this up:

  1. Download the Virgin Media Connect App and follow the steps within the app
  2. If you couldn’t install the Connect App or have trouble using it, here is a guide on how to set up WiFi hotspots settings without the app for an Android

You're in range of a Virgin Media WiFi hotspot in the UK when you can see 'Virgin Media' in your list of available WiFi networks.

We’re adding new hotspots in more places all the time, so you can stay securely connected while out and about.

When you need to disconnect from WiFi hotspots temporarily or if you are experiencing issues with a particular hotspot, simply switch WiFi OFF until you are ready to connect again.

To stop connecting to WiFi hotspots permanently please try the following:

On iOS:

To stop automatically connecting to our WiFi hotspots, you’ll need to delete the WiFi hotspots profile on your device. To do this:

  • Go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management
  • Choose the WiFi network profile from Virgin Media
  • Click Remove Profile

On Android:

To stop automatically connecting to our WiFi hotspots, please find the list of saved WiFi networks in your device’s WiFi settings, tap the setting or cog next to “Virgin Media” WiFi name and toggle Auto reconnect switch to the OFF position.
