Did you know you could get data-free WhatsApp messaging through our 4G mobile phone plans? Find out more, plus discover some top WhatsApp tips and tricks
By Virgin TV Edit
WhatsApp has become one of the most essential apps in the world, with more than 2 billion people worldwide using the messaging service. It hasn’t raked in those kinds of numbers for nothing, you know! Its appeal is obvious: it’s free to download, and allows you to group chat, send voice messages and share your location with contacts all over the globe. WhatsApp uses the internet to send messages, so as long as you have a good connection or access to WiFi, you’re good to go!
But did you know that all our 4G plans for mobile phones and mobile broadband let you send sound clips (voice notes), texts and pictures on WhatsApp (plus Facebook Messenger and Twitter), all without using your data allowance? Upgrade from 3G and you can use all this data-free messaging straight away. Plus, if you connect to WiFi or dip into your data, you can do voice or video calls in these apps as well.
What’s more, you can use WhatsApp to send messages (not calls), even if you are out of data. But make sure you switch off automatic app updates in your phone’s settings so you aren’t charged for going over your allowance.
