How do broadband and phone deals work?

A broadband and phone deal is a package that combines two services: a broadband connection and a landline. You’ll have a choice of broadband speed and a choice of home phone service, and both will appear on the same bill.

Bundling the two together can also work out at a cheaper monthly rate. It’s important to remember that most broadband and phone bundles come on a contract which ties you to those services for a set amount of time. Virgin Media has a number of broadband and phone deals available.

Our broadband packages range from M100 Fibre Broadband (108Mbps average download speed) all the way up to Gig1 Fibre Broadband (1,130Mbps average download speed).

You’ll get a phone line too, which can include unlimited calls to UK landlines, mobile networks and international landlines depending on the plan you choose. Check out our full list of call plans above.

What’s the best broadband and phone deal for me?

When deciding on the best broadband and phone deal, you should consider several factors. With broadband, think about:

Speed – Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second (Mbps). Generally speaking, the faster the speed, the more you can do online at the same time. Our broadband packages range from M50, which has an average download speed of 54Mbps to our Gig1 package, which has an average download speed of 1130Mbps. Contract length – Most of our minimum term contract lengths are for 18 months, but we have some other options too, including a more flexible 30-day rolling contract. Getting the best offer for your needs means you avoid early cancellation fees.

Price – Along with the monthly fee for your package, there can also be an installation fee to consider. If you’ve bought your package with a promotional discount, check how much you’ll really pay when the discount ends, for fair price comparison.

Download limits – Most broadband packages are unlimited these days, so there’s no cap on how much you can download or upload. Certain policies such as fair usage limits, traffic management and speed throttling can be used to slow broadband at certain points, to ensure all users in your area are getting a fair connection. With our broadband and phone plans, you get unlimited broadband. We sometimes moderate the speeds for the top 5% of customers who are downloading or uploading unusually large amounts. We do this to make sure we can provide a fair service to all of our customers and create fewer broadband traffic jams.

Gifts and incentives – A voucher, gift card, cashback, a period of reduced cost or a speed upgrade can sweeten the right broadband and phone deal and give you better value for money.

When it comes to finding the right landline or line rental deal for your home, you should consider:

Inclusive calls and minutes – Calling your loved ones shouldn’t cost a fortune. Get a landline tariff that comes with the right, inclusive (evening, weekend or anytime) calls so that picking up the receiver won’t be more expensive than it has to be. Outside these times, you can still use your phone but it’ll cost you extra. Learn more about our everyday call charges.

Making mobile calls – If you're likely to make calls to mobile phones you might want to ignore our basic Talk Weekends plan in favour of all our others. They offer inclusive calls to mobiles on all UK networks not just our own Virgin Mobile, so your monthly cost doesn't go up after a catch-up with a friend.

Paid-for add-ons – Having the option to customise your landline package at an extra cost is always a bonus. Whether you want privacy options, such as anonymous caller reject or an option to manage incoming calls, such as call divert, free call back or call waiting, home phone extras will do the trick.

International calls – Taking a more affordable home phone plan and buying add-ons, such as Talk International, is a one way to call overseas. But if you have a friend or family member living abroad, you probably want a landline tariff that’ll let you call international landlines more often (Talk More International Anytime) and purchase overseas calls to mobiles too (Talk Extra International add-on).

Free calls to customer support – Every so often you might need to make calls to the customer service team. Our customers can dial 150 from their landline for free and our team will be on hand to help.

Contacting service numbers – Every 30 days, you can use up to 1,000 minutes (or 150 calls) to phone 0845 – and other 08 numbers, depending on your Talk plan.

Can I get a broadband and mobile bundle?

Yes. There are two ways you can get a mobile phone tariff with your broadband:

o Choose a broadband and SIM only deal – when you’ve selected your package, you’ll be asked how much data you’d like on your mobile phone plan.

o Or bundle all four services together – our ‘quad play’ options let you combine your internet, phone, TV and mobile subscriptions into one broadband package. This lets you keep to just one bill, which can come at a cheaper monthly rate.

What is a minimum period?

When you take any services from Virgin Media you will be committing to taking that service for a minimum amount of time (e.g., 18 months). Virgin Media call this a minimum period, minimum term or minimum commitment period but they mean the same thing. Please check your basket for details of the minimum period that applies to the services you have chosen.

What if I cancel or move home?
If you cancel during the minimum period, you may need to pay an early disconnection fee, including when you move to a property outside of the Virgin Media Network area – this is because you will be asking to cancel your services early.
