You know it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas when the Royal Variety Performance is on the telly. This British institution always has something for everyone – and 2019’s all-singing, all-dancing showcase is no different.
Hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan (and with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in attendance), this year’s extravaganza from the London Palladium is packed to the rafters with star names from across the glitzy world of entertainment.
We’re talking Rod Stewart, Robbie Williams, Emeli Sandé and Lewis Capaldi, plus star turns from crooner Harry Connick Jr and Hollywood actor Luke Evans. Meanwhile, comedians Frank Skinner and Kerry Godliman will be bringing the laughter, and there will also be spectacular performances from the casts of West End shows Come From Away, Groan Ups and Mary Poppins. Even Queen Victoria would be forced to raise a smile at this lot.
