And Just Like That… the ladies are back

A new chapter awaits as the Sex And The City spin-off returns, with Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte embarking on more fabulous adventures in killer outfits...

By Charlotte Briggs, Staff Writer

It’s here! Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis) are stiletto-stomping New York’s streets once more, for another round of rosé, romance and a reunion or two.

But before we get into all that, let’s regroup on the first season (serious spoilers ahead). Premiering in December 2022 with ten tantalising episodes, our trio were catapulted from the 1990s into the 21st century (minus Kim Cattrall’s iconic Samantha Jones, who chose not to return, but more on that later).

After a devastating goodbye to Mr Big (Chris North) and later Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson), Carrie and her ensemble of fashionable pals picked up the pieces and embarked on a whirlwind season of love and loss, realising all the while that anything was possible.

Carrie graduated from her column to a podcast and later her own show (aptly named Sex And The City), sharing a steamy smooch with her producer Franklyn (Ivan Hernandez). Charlotte and her husband Harry (Evan Handler) gave up their traditional family views and threw a “they” mitzvah for Rock (Alexa Swinton), while navigating their adopted teen daughter Lily’s (Cathy Ang) growing pains.

And one storyline that shocked even the most loyal fans was Miranda’s relationship with non-binary stand-up comedian Che Diaz (Sara Ramírez), with the pair running off into the LA sunset while Steve Brady (David Eigenberg) was left holding divorce papers. Ouch! At least their son Brady (Niall Cunningham) was supportive of Miranda’s new hairdo.

Which takes us to where we left off, with Carrie scattering Big’s ashes from a Eiffel Tower-shaped purse on Paris’ Pont des Arts (the same bridge on which Big first confessed his love for her). And the drama didn’t end with Carrie’s Valentino gown either, after she reached out to former BFF Samantha, who she fired prior to season one. OMG!

Viewers will have to patiently wait for a glimpse of the iconic, sexually liberated feminist Miss Jones though. But you can watch the bombshell trailer for the next chapter below. Oh, and prepare to have your mind blown as Carrie reaches out to yet another face from Manhattan’s past…

Phew! Now that our heads have stopped spinning from all those dizzying twists, we have a few burning questions. Will sparks fly between Carrie and her lost love Aiden Shaw (John Corbett)? What does the future hold for Miranda, Steve and Che? And will Anthony Marentino’s bakery “Hot Fellas” get the screen time it deserves? Whatever happens, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for our favourite New Yorkers.

And speaking of New Yorkers, you’ve probably noticed a few faces that weren’t part of the original Sex And The City line-up. Creator of And Just Like That… Michael Patrick King introduced some new friendships for our leading ladies outside of their inner circle.

Just some of the incredible women that’ve joined the And Just Like That… family are Sarita Choudhury as self-made realtor Seema Patel, Karen Pittman as Columbia law professor Dr Nya Wallace, Nicole Ari Parker as documentarian Lisa Todd Wexley and Cree Cicchino as Brady’s girlfriend Luisa Torres.

Plus, there’s been some male additions to the cast too, including Christopher Jackson as hedge fund banker Herbert Wexley, LeRoy McClain as musician Andre Rashad Wallace, William Abadie as nightclub owner Zed and even Tony Danza as himself. Tune into the brand new season on Thursday 22 June from 9pm on Sky Comedy HD (CH 112).
