Rob Lowe’s acting career has taken him from the frat house to the White House, but now he’s about to rock up in the town of Boston, East Lincolnshire, for brand new ITV crime drama Wild Bill. Yes, that’s right – Boston, East Lincolnshire.
Lowe plays Bill Hixon, an academically minded American cop who relocates to the UK with his 14-year-old daughter after being appointed chief constable of the East Lincolnshire Police Force. Quick-witted, caustic and extremely focused, Hixon is tasked with getting the local bobbies into shape, and has one eye on getting the heck out of there as soon as possible.
But (and there’s always a but) this fish out of water soon discovers that the locals aren’t all that keen on his data-driven methods of policing. It’s a clash of cultures alright! Can he win them over while engaging with the everyday drama of upholding the law? Will he adapt to his new life in this sleepy market town? And is there more to his past than meets the eye?
Speaking of the past, Rob Lowe has been a Hollywood star since breaking through in the 1980s as a member of the infamous Brat Pack, a term used to describe a group of hot young Tinseltown players that included Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald and Demi Moore. Since then, Lowe has featured in a number of memorable films and television dramas, and won several awards along the way.
