Using Virgin Media SpeedBooster

As well as using a PC that can keep up with Virgin Media fibre optic broadband, optimisation is probably the most important thing you can do! It is really simple to do and can make a big difference. The good news is that if your computer already uses the Windows Vista Operating System then it will automatically take care of the optimisation for you.

If you’re using Windows XP or 2000, then to optimise your connection further, you need to use a TCP Optimiser. You can download Virgin Media SpeedBooster and it will help you improve how your PC connects to the internet.

For Apple operating systems optimisation may take place automatically or you can go to the Apple website for further detail.

Follow these steps:

1. From the Desktop start Internet Explorer**
2. Go to http://downloads.virginmedia.com/speedbooster/setup.exe
3. Download SpeedBooster
4. On completion of the download, install Speedbooster, you will see the following window



5. Follow the on-screen instructions, you may also be required to install the Microsoft .Net framework.



6. Once SpeedBooster is installed, click on the SpeedBooster icon. To optimise your PC, you must select their tier of service from the drop-down list and also tick “I have backed up my computer”. The Optimise and Reset buttons do not become active until the “I have backed up my computer” has been ticked.



7. Your PC will then be optimised



8. When this is complete you will be asked to reboot your PC



9. That is it!
